A rich land… of history<\/strong><\/h1>\n\n\n\n

The D-Day beaches<\/strong>, especiallyOmaha<\/strong> Beach, 20 km from Isigny, andUtah Beach<\/strong>, less than 30 km from Isigny, were the scene of one of the greatest battles in modern history with Operation Overlord, also known as the D-Day, on the morning of June 6, 1944. You can also visit the D-Day landing beaches in the company of guides specialized in Omaha Beach<\/strong> and heritage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The American military cemeteries<\/strong> in Colleville-sur-mer, located 25 km from Isigny, as well as the German cemetery<\/strong> 7 km from Isigny in the town of La Cambe, remind us of the importance of preserving peace in the world.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n

Numerous reconstructions of American and German scenes plunge you into the heart of the history of the Landing and the daily life of all these soldiers as well as their meeting with the local population finally liberated.     Pointe du Hoc and its bunkers<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

    15 km from our campsite, along the coast, don’t miss a stop at the Pointe du Hoc<\/strong>. From the top of this small cape, we can see that the site still bears the scars of the numerous bombings, where 225 Rangers stormed the 30 meters of cliff overlooking it. Today, this place shows what a German coastal artillery battery was with its fire direction post, its bunkers<\/strong>, its shelters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
